Comment
I am committed to excellence in undergraduate physics education. I seek to improve student success in physics at UNM by staying abreast of physics education research and implementing the results of physics education research in introductory laboratories. I seek to disseminate these results via teaching assistants through training and exposure.

Nota Bene
As the first physics instructor at Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute (TVI, now Central New Mexico Community College), I had the pleasure of building the physics program from scratch. Between 1986 and 1990 I developed and taught all the introductory courses, including lectures with demonstrations and associated laboratories, at the conceptual, algebra and calculus level. I secured all necessary equipment to accommodate instruction at two campuses.
After attending Physics Education Research (PER) workshops, I revamped the laboratory curricula at TVI(CNM) to include modern active engagement pedagogy coupled with computer-based data acquisition and analysis.
At the University of New Mexico, I have continued implementation of PER based curricula in introductory laboratories. We have successfully transformed the laboratory program, improving student learning and enhancing the reputation of the laboratories among students.
I have implemented a program of Teaching Assistant training in
the form of a seminar required of all TAs who teach the laboratories.
