New Student Orientation

1) Elliott Bailey's office is Room 118, Phone is 277-4447, Cell Phone is 249-2105, and web page is at http://panda.unm.edu/operations or go to http://panda.unm.edu and click on the "Intern. Operations" button and then click on the "Dept. Operations" panel. Power outages and VERY important short term information will be at the "Urgent Items" link, usually items that will affect EVERYONE.

2) Elliott's assistants are Joel Lorimer, General Services Assistant, and Guru Prasad Pejevar, and Erasmo Garcia, our Work Study's and Joel's assistants. Their office is Room 163, and their phone number is 277-8671. Elliott is also assisted by Dragana Damljanovic whose desk is in Room 120.

3) We take care of the building, keys, tools, hardware/software, hanging boards and pictures, shipping and receiving, moving, fixing, breaking, transporting, vehicles, remote sites, bulldozing, computers, networking, office space assignments, telephones and books, safety (chemical, radioactive, general), security, inventory, projectors, purchasing, and any other general information.

4) Read the entire Operations web pages to know it all, and to get familiar with many of our operations policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

5) As new Graduate students, first and foremost, read the section on "Key Policy/Procedures" to find out how to be assigned office space, desks, and keys.

6) My work hours are 07:30-16:30. Please feel free to call me in my office, or on my cell phone at any time during regular working hours (M-F, 7:30-4:30), even if I am on vacation, to resolve any serious issues. Joel, Joshua, and Zan, will normally be here from 08:00-17:00 on M-F.

7) Keys will not necessarily be ready to be picked up immediately. We attempt to get them issued within a day or two, but bear in mind that with other work load situations it can take up to a week to get your keys requested.

8) Notice that all of our Operations web pages are dated at the top. This is to assure you that you are getting up-to-date information. Note that if a page does have an older "worn-out" date on it, that page may be more-or-less "permanent" data and doesn't get updated a great deal. If you see a page in that condition, and you think it should have been more recently updated, please let Elliott know and he will check it out. Thanks.

9) ASK or TELL US, because we can't fix it, if we don't know it's broke!!!!!!!!
