The Observatory is a public service of the department.


Find out about our viewing event for the annular eclipse of the Sun on May 20 as well as live images of the eclipse.
Find out about viewing the transit of Venus on June 5 at the Observatory.


Give to the Department of Physics of Astronomy, to support the Observatory and other vital educational, outreach and research efforts



At 3pm on Fridays this page will show whether the observatory will be open that evening for our regular Friday night public viewing.

Parking Free during Observatory hours in the M Lot adjacent to Observatory building
Viewing Dates Every Friday during the Fall and Spring Semesters (except Fall and Spring Break) when the weather is clear; recorded information is also available at 277-1446.
Hours 7-9 p.m. MST, 8-10 p.m. MDT
Admission Open to the public as well as UNM students...free of charge.
